Il Nuovo Postiglione - Qatar Prime Minister Opens Eighth Global Security Forum

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani inaugurated the eighth Global Security Forum in Doha.

His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani inaugurated the 8th Global Security Forum 2026 Monday. Convened under the title 'The Future of Alliances', the forum brings together high-ranking officials and dignitaries from over 100 nations to explore the future of alliances and collective security.

This year's event takes place at a time when international security is at a pivotal juncture, with established alliances and international institutions facing mounting pressure from geopolitical tensions, regional conflicts, and shifts in global partnerships.

The forum offers a space for decision-makers to share viewpoints, take stock of emerging security challenges, and explore avenues for reinforcing international co-operation. In addition, the forum addresses pressures on international institutions, the growing influence of rising powers and non-state actors, and the future of multilateral co-operation and collective security, while underscoring the pivotal role of diplomacy, dialogue, and mediation in strengthening regional and global security.

The opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan al-Thani and His Excellency Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, alongside several ministers and officials.
